Planning
The Planning Department administers the zoning ordinance and works with other departments, the Planning Commission, Town Council, residents and businesses to implement the long-term development goals of the Town of Christiansburg.
Our department provides lead staff support to the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals during public hearings for rezonings, conditional use permits, variances, and code amendments.
The Planning Department manages the Town’s U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development – Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and we work closely with regional partners to coordinate resources and support collaborative planning efforts.
We also provide assistance on a number of zoning and development items, including:
- Building permits
- Site plan review
- Subdivision plats
- Sign permits
- Enforcement of nuisance issues and violations of the zoning ordinance
