K-9 Vice, a German Shepard, was purchased from PSD K9 in Oxford, FL, in 2015 when he was 14 weeks old.
Since then, Vice has been certified as a Dual Purpose Working K9.
K-9 Vice can be used to detect the odors of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine. K-9 Vice is also certified in tracking as well.
K-9 Vice will be used throughout the New River Valley to help and assist with narcotics and tracking of fleeing or wanted suspects.
On Duty
Acting in a patrol capacity, K-9 Vice is used for:
- Area searches to locate suspects
- Missing persons
- Fleeing suspects (tracking)
- Narcotics detection generally involving vehicles, residences, buildings, schools, luggage, packages, and open areas
