[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: 2020 Christiansburg Holiday Events

Christmas Wreaths

Reverse Christmas Parade at Uptown Christiansburg (formerly NRV Mall) on Dec. 11 from 7-9 p.m.

This year, in place of its traditional Christmas Parade, the Town will be offering a reverse parade at Uptown Christiansburg (formerly NRV Mall) on Dec. 11 from 7-9 p.m. Floats will be stationary (parked) in the New River Community College (NRCC) section of the Uptown Christiansburg parking lot while spectators slowly drive by on New River Road. This year's parade theme is "Light up the tree, it's Christmas you see."

In case of inclement weather, the decision to reschedule the parade will be made by noon on Dec. 11. The inclement weather date is Dec. 14.

Other Holiday Events

Due to increasing cases of COVID-19 and Governor Northam’s recent executive order limiting gatherings to 25, we will no longer be holding a Christmas at the Market event or an in-person tree lighting. But you can still support our market vendors! Starting the week of Nov. 30, visit www.christiansburg.org/marketshop to purchase everything on your Christmas list from all your favorite vendors. The site will be updated during the week of Nov. 30 to reflect the vendors' online offerings.

The Town’s annual tree lighting in downtown will also be virtual this year. Join us at www.facebook.com/cburgvagov to the tree lighting during the week of Nov. 30. More information on exact date and time to come.

While we’re saddened we cannot celebrate the holidays in-person with you, we look forward to finding new and creative ways to connect with the community online. We’re currently working on plans for additional virtual and contactless events and celebrations, and we’ll share more soon on this page and our social media channels. Please keep an eye out for more information, and please continue to watch your distance, wear your mask and wash your hands. We’ll get through this together. Be committed, and be well. Happy holidays!
