The purpose of the Community Tilling Program is to provide assistance to the community through the tilling of community-use spaces for the production of gardens that assist in community food production, as well as to encourage local non-profits to participate in the common benefits of local food production in the form of community gardens. Any non-profit property within the Town of Christiansburg that is suitable for a community garden (as determined by Town staff) shall be eligible to receive Town tilling service on a once per year basis in the months of April, May or June. Any non-profit desiring to receive Town services for the community tilling program shall fill out an application for service and provide proof of non-profit status.
