UPDATE: As of 9/13/18 at 12:00 p.m., the Town has received more bags. Sand, bags and shovels are now available at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center, while supplies last or until 4 p.m. today.
If we run out of bags today, we'll still have sand available tomorrow (Sept. 14), from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., for you to fill your own bags.
-------
The Town of Christiansburg is offering free sandbags to Town residents and Town businesses in preparation of Hurricane Florence.
Beginning today, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m., Public Works will have sand and 500 bags in the upper rear lot of the Christiansburg Aquatic Center, 595 N. Franklin Street. The upper rear lot borders Mill Lane and Depot Street.
The sand and bags will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis. Shovels will be provided, and a crew member will remain on site to help individuals fill their bags.
The giveaway will continue on Thursday and Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, or while supplies last. For more information or questions, please call Christiansburg Public Works at (540) 382-1151.
