The Christiansburg Aquatic Center will be offering two youth (6-18) swim teams beginning Sept. 5. The Fins Youth swim team will begin practice on this date from 7-8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays through Sept. 26. The Homeschool Swim team will begin practice on this date from 1-2 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays through Sept. 26. Both teams will also offer classes at the same times in October and November.
These non-competitive swim teams are designed to be a fun transition into the world of competitive swimming, or a good way for summer league and high school swimmers to continue their training between seasons. Coaches will be working directly with the swimmers on competitive stroke mechanics as well as overall swimming endurance.
Participants must be able to swim 25 yards in two of the four competitive strokes, and will need to bring a swimsuit, towel, swim cap and goggles to practice.
