To provide assistance to the community through the tilling of community-use spaces for the production of gardens to assist in community food production, as well as to encourage local non-profits to participate in the common benefits of local food production in the form of community gardens.
Any non-profit property within the Town of Christiansburg that is suitable for a community garden (as determined by Town staff) shall be eligible to receive Town tilling service on a once per year basis in the months of April, May or June.
Any non-profit desiring to receive Town services for the community tilling program shall fill out an application for service and provide proof of non-profit status. Town staff reserves the right to schedule community tilling according to their work schedules, though will try to accommodate requested dates or times. The Town assumes no responsibility for the maintenance of community gardens beyond the initial tilling.
