WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT TOUR

Additional Information: The Town of Christiansburg Waste Water Treatment Facility (WWTF) and collection system are critical parts of the Town infrastructure and play an essential role in providing many of the services necessary for daily life in Christiansburg.  Every day the collection system collects over 2.5 million gallons of wastewater from citizens and businesses and transports it through a series of pipes and pump stations to the WWTF.  The WWTF is designed to treat 60 million gallons per day (MGD) and a peak of 15 MGD.  The WWTF operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year to treat wastewater and discharge a high quality effluent (reclaimed water) to the New River.  The treatment system utilizes physical, microbiological, chemical, and bio solids processes to remove organics, nutrients, and disinfect harmful bacteria, viruses and protozoa.  This tour will provide you with a behind the scenes look at the different treatment processes utilized every day to treat wastewater within the Town of Christiansburg.
