Town Council is in the process of reviewing the proposed F.Y. 2013-14 annual budget.
Town Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget, proposed tax increases and the corresponding ordinance changes on May 21, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

Please note the following is a synopsis based on Town Council discussions regarding the proposed changes to the budget.
The proposed F.Y. 2013-14 Annual Budget includes the following fee and tax changes:
WATER & SEWER FEES:
Minimum bill from $17.00 to $18.00 for the first 4000 gallons.
The next 96,000 gallons from $4.60 to $4.90 per 1000 gallons
Minimum bill from $ 27.00 to $28.00 for the first 4000 gallons
All above 4000 gallons from $7.20 to $7.50 per 1000 gallons
WATER & SEWER CONNECTION FEES:
Base Water Connection Fee from $2,000 to $2,500
Base Sewer Connection Fee from $2,000 to $2,500
Motor Vehicle License Fee: From $30.00 to $32.00 (increase of $2)
Garbage Fee from $16.50 to $17.00 per month
PROPOSED TAX CHANGES
REAL PROPERTY (REAL ESTATE) TAX RATE
Effective for Tax Year 2013
Authority: Code of Virginia 58.1-3200
Real Estate Tax from $0.1126 per hundred to $0.13 per hundred
CONSUMER UTILITY TAX/ NATURAL GAS AND ELECTRIC UTILITY TAX
Effective Date: October 1,2013
Authority: Code of Virginia 58.1-3814
The rate is unchanged; however the maximum monthly amount will be increased from $2.00 to $2.50 for both Gas and Electric consumption.
BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL LICENSE TAX RETAIL BUSINESSES
Effective Date: For all 2013 calendar year receipts
Authority: Code of Virginia 58.1-3700, et, esq.
The Business and Professional License Tax on Retail business to be increased from $0.15 per $100 to $0.175 per $100
These proposed tax and fee increases are in response to the continued rising costs of providing Town services.
