What is the Comprehensive Plan?
The Town of Christiansburg is updating its Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan is the result of continuing efforts by Town leaders and citizens to direct positive, orderly growth in the Town and surrounding urbanizing areas of Montgomery County. The Comprehensive Plan is the principal tool to guide growth and development in a community. It accomplishes this by examining current conditions and providing direction that will enhance the Town's functions, appearance, and livability.
The Comprehensive Plan will create a vision for the future and a blueprint of how to achieve the vision in the next 20-30 years. This blueprint will include a set of policy and analytic documents and maps that cover all elements related to the physical development of the area. These elements include: land use, economy, transportation, housing, utilities and communications, community facilities and services, and the natural environment. The plan will also lay out goals, objectives, policies, standards, costs and strategies to guide the implementation of development. For an easy-to-read version of this information, please see the
Comprehensive Plan Brochure.

Population Growth
As Christiansburg continues to grow, the demand for public services and community facilities increases. The Town must undergo planning in order to maintain the quality of these necessities. By examining current conditions and providing direction for future growth, the Town will maintain appeal and enhance quality of life for its current and future residents.
Public Participation Opportunities
Christiansburg intends to create a comprehensive plan that contains ideas from Town citizens for its physical, social, economic, and environmental growth. In order to achieve this goal, Christiansburg invites the public to stay informed about and participate in creating the comprehensive plan using the various means listed below.
