1. I recently applied for a position with the Town and have not received a call for interview. Why?

To the extent possible, the Town of Christiansburg utilizes pre-selection committees that review applications independently to formulate a short list from which to gather applicants for interview. Due to the number of applications received and other factors, some positions may take longer to fill, and as such, a longer time to contact candidates.

2. A recent job advertisement states that “applicant must meet driver insurability guidelines.” What does this mean?

Under the Town’s liability insurance, there are some infractions which would impede suitability for positions that require driving a Town-owned motor vehicle for liability and safety reasons. Town of Christiansburg Insurance Carrier insurability guidelines are as follows:

A DMV record or Motor Vehicle Report that has ANY of the following convictions during the most recent three-year period will be deemed “unacceptable”:

• DWI/DUI
• Reckless Driving
• Suspended License
• Speeding 15 MPH or more above the speed limit
• Drug Offense
• Hit & Run/Leaving the scene of an accident
• Two or more at-fault accidents
• Three or more moving violations in the past three years (does not count non-moving violations such as expired registration, improper equipment)
• Less than three years of driving experience

DMV reports that do not list any of the aforementioned convictions or driver liability concerns will be deemed “acceptable” per carrier insurability guidelines.
