  1. Register for Self Defense for Women (R.A.D.) Classes

    April 26, 8:00 AM - May 30, 5:00 PM @ Classroom 1

    The Christiansburg Police Department will sponsor this self defense course for women, held at the Christiansburg Recreation Center. The course will be instructed by Carolyn Hall, co-instructor of the New River Valley Traditional Karate organization and by Sergeant Phil Townley of the Christiansburg Police Department. The course will be based on the R.ape A.ggression D.efense System curriculum. Psychology of self defense, as well as information related to protective orders, domestic assault and other related legal issues will be discussed. Registration ends May 30, 2012. The course will begin on June 4, 2012 and run for four weeks. Registration fees for town residents are $35.00. For non-residents: $55.00. If you have any specific questions regarding the course, please contact Sergeant Phil Townley at ptownley@christiansburg.org. ***You will need to fill out a packet of information when you come to the Recreation Department to register.***

    Come by the recreation department and have your child fingerprinted by Sgt. Phil Townley and Officer Gary Fields (CPD Crime Prevention) for your files in case of an emergency. Ages 2 and over.

  1. Town Council Street Committee Meeting

    May 22, 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM @ 100 E. Main St.

    The Town Council Street Committee will meet on Tuesday, May 22nd beginning at 7:30 a.m. in the administrative conference room at Town Hall, 100 E. Main St. to discuss the following items: a traffic study for Farmview Rd.; the possibility of Albert Lane being a private street when it is developed; discussion on assuming maintenance of N. Franklin St. from VDOT, the possibility of a left turn arrow at the intersection of Roanoke and Depot Streets; and an update on the citizen request for street lights on Craig Mountain. No action will be taken.
