Work begins on Park Street Sidewalk Project

Work began early February on the Park Street Sidewalk Project, which consists of constructing five-foot sidewalks, as well as curb and gutter, from Hagan Street to Depot Street. This project is a continuation of the Town's efforts to improve access and drainage, as well as walkability, along Park Street.

The contractor will be working to clear the area before storm drains and sidewalks are built. Work will proceed from Republic Road toward Depot Street, and overhead utilities are also being permanently relocated by AEP between Republic Road and Hagan Street. The contractor will utilize lane closures on an as needed basis.

While there will be some impact to local traffic during construction, access to all homes and businesses will remain open. The contractor will coordinate accessibility adjustments with property owners when necessary.

During this project, contractors will also pave, add an at-grade pedestrian crossing along Park Street and implement drainage improvements. Work is expected to be complete in summer 2017.
